Our Anglican Heritage
We are a member of the Anglican Mission in the Americas. Our Bishop is the The Rt. Rev. Thomas William (TJ) Johnston, Jr.
While we are members of the Anglican Mission in the Americas we enjoy a strong partnership with The Anglican Church in North America and the local Gulf Atlantic Diocese.
Our History
Resurrection Anglican Church was born out of small bible Study group who discerned the need to begin a new biblically faithful Anglican Church at the beaches. Their conviction was shared other Anglicans in the area and a new church was born. Our original name was Anglican Beaches Church which identified clearly the groups conviction of remaining faithful to their Anglican heritage. In our first year of existence we were blessed with supply clergy from the area Anglican community and space from our Christian brethren at Neptune Baptist Church. The first Vicar of Anglican Beaches was Gary Blaylock who was called in 2007 to help lead God’s new church. He served faithfully until August of 2009 when the church called our first full time Rector, David W. Ball.
Since August of 2009 we have experienced much change, a new name Resurrection Anglican Church, our vision, “To Bear Witness to Jesus Christ at the Beaches”, and a new worship space (the old chapel of Beaches Chapel in Neptune Beach). We are especially grateful to Beaches Chapel for their generosity in providing us with a beautiful space for our Sunday worship services. We are excited about the new season of ministry the Lord is calling us into and look forward to all that he has in store.
Our Leadership
Rector/Head Pastor – The Rev. David Ball
David was born and raised in Jacksonville and spent his middle school and high school years in Atlantic Beach. David discerned God’s call to ordain ministry during his senior year in high school while helping to lead a church youth renewal movement. He graduated from the University of North Carolina with a bachelor degree in Religious Studies and later received his Masters in Divinity from Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry in Ambridge Pennsylvania. Before accepting the call to Resurrection Anglican Church as our first full time Rector, David served as a volunteer leader for Young Life, an Assistant Rector at Galilee Church in Virginia Beach, Virginia and most recently an Assistant Rector at All Saints Church in Pawleys Island, South Carolina. David is passionate about reaching those who are disconnected from God with the love of Jesus Christ.
Music Team – Carol Wallis
Carol and her family moved to Jacksonville 22 years ago. The Wallises answered a call to ministry early in their marriage, with Rick serving as a priest in the Episcopal Church. They then served the Jacksonville Vineyard congregation for fourteen years, and have recently returned to the Anglican Communion. Carol has led worship for the Vineyard, Redeemer Anglican, and Anglican 4th Day, and loves both ancient and more recent expressions of faith. She loves to enter into the presence of God, and is passionate to help people bring their lives, hearts and musical gifts to God in worship, who is so very worthy! Come join us!
